A robotic arm made for humans

Jaco's movements mimic sixteen unique movements of the shoulder, elbow, and wrist with the smoothness and versatility of a fully functioning human arm. Mounted on your power wheelchair, you take full control using the chair’s joystick, head array, sip-and-puff, or almost any other interface. We know fitting through doors can be difficult, and in most cases, Jaco does not add any width to your chair. Our life-changing assistive robot helps you with everyday life, easily gripping objects, so you can pick up your keys or a glass of water, and open doors and press light switches. And yes, you can also eat with your Jaco, either by using the robot's fingers directly or by holding a utensil.

  • Intuitive control and user-friendly;
  • Programmable safe zones;
  • Optional OLED display for visual feedback;
  • Optional Lift arm (dynamic swing-away mount to facilitate transfers).

Helpful accessories

The Kinova OLED display provides users with a visual reference of the current modes and status of the robot. An ambient light sensor will make sure the screen brightness is always optimal while a LED indicator will give feedback on the current mode of operation, power, and connection status.

The Kinova Lift arm increases Jaco's vertical range and mounting flexibility. This allows users to drive up to desks and tables without interference. A swing-away mechanism lets you move Jaco out of the way temporarily to facilitate transfers into and out of the wheelchair.

I just interviewed a Veteran with ALS who receives care at our Veteran Affairs Health Care facility. I was able to watch the arm being fitted to his wheelchair and I cannot begin to describe the happiness he and his wife feel now that he has managed to take back some of his independence that ALS so cruelly took from him. Thank you for your service to our Veterans and people around the world who have have the ability to the things so many of us take for granted!

"I am Franziska and have SMA. I have needed help all my life. First I couldn't pick up things, then it became difficult to hold a paintbrush to the point that I couldn't practice my passion, painting. Then I got the Jaco and could finally eat and drink by myself! I started painting, decorating the Christmas tree and opening doors. These little joys were given back to me thanks to Jaco and the Kinova team. Many thanks for your excellent work!"

"My life changed the day I received a Jaco. In 2003, I suffered a cervical spinal cord injury after falling off a trampoline. For twelve years, I relied on others to help me pick up things I had dropped, to bring me a drink or items I couldn't pick up. With Jaco, I can do simple tasks and he helps me with various complex tasks. Kinova, I think, is the beginning of a beautiful friendship."

"Jaco has been a major revelation in my life. I was an active youth who loved adventure and challenges. Then I was in a car accident the day before my 22nd birthday. Quadriplegic since that day, using a motorized wheelchair and only have partial movement of my arms. I have worked hard to regain my independence. Jaco gives me independence and security. There’s also a lot less worry for me and my 'entourage'."
